Deidre
Staples
Actor|Writer
Hey y'all! I'm a NY based actor but a Memphis native who bleeds BBQ sauce. Since graduating Howard University, I acted professionally in DC for six years originating roles in John Proctor is the Villain and Good Bones. In New York I've performed at the Classical Theatre of Harlem, Lincoln Center Theater, and Bedlam. When I'm not acting, I am an avid writer, musician, basketball fan, and BBQ Pitmaster (self-verified). My solo show White-ish premiered at the Atlas Intersections Festival and later in Atlanta, GA and Asheville, NC. I was the lyrist/composer for The Vanguard: The Musical and a quarterfinalist for The Austin Film Festival and BlueCat Screenplay Competition for my short film Strange Fruit. Go Grizz!
