Deidre
Staples
Actor|Writer
Hey y'all! I'm a DC based actor but a Memphis native who bleeds BBQ.
I graduated with a Bachelor in Theatre Arts from Howard University. After graduation I acted professionally in DC at Studio Theatre, Arena Stage, Everyman Theatre, Signature Theatre, and Mosaic Theatre. When I'm not acting, I am an avid writer and musician. My solo show White-ish premiered at the Atlas Intersections Festival and later at the Aurora Theatre in Atlanta, GA. I was the lyrist/composer for The Vanguard: The Musical. And a quarterfinalist for The Austin Film Festival and BlueCat Screenplay Competition with my short film Strange Fruit.

“Deidre Staples as the character of Carmen (sister to Earl) was a delight in her role...Ms. Staples' character seemed to be a calming presence who looked for ways to help others.”Review of Good Bones, Broadway World
“Staples gives an infectious uplift to Dyfan’s coming-of-age account.” Review of My Body, No Choice, The Washington Post
Deidre Staples “shines brightly from the moment she speaks.” Review of John Proctor is the Villain, The Georgetown Dish
“Deidre Staples…glows in the part. She’s saucy, smart, and eager to please as the conscience of the family. Her warmth draws the audience to her, and Gladys perseveres to the end with the strength of a tigress cub.”
